West Seneca East Boys, Front L-R Nicholas Morrissey, Branden Simone, Back L-R Derrick Geschwender, Josh Broad, and John Truslow
The Trojans Bowling Team is the first team in the history of the West Seneca School District to win a State championship.
The Frontier High School girls team nearly made it a Section VI sweep, finishing 2nd behind champions Union-Endicott High School, from Section IV.
West Seneca East (seniors Nicholas Morrissey, Josh Broad, Derrick Geschwender, John Truslow, and junior Branden Simone) returned all five of their players this year from a team that finished second in the State finals last year in White Plains, NY, falling short to champion East Islip High School. That second place finish proved motivation enough to put them over the top in 2009.
Section VI also won gold with the boys All Section team. Members of the team were Frank Porter (Niagara Falls HS), Tyler Skoczylas (North Tonawanda), John Stopka (Kenmore West), Ryan Gates (Gowanda), Eric Michalski (Amherst), and Maurice Davidson (Bennett).
Section VI's girls All Section team also rolled to second place in the intersectional team competition. Team members were Jackie Willy (Clarence), Brianna Larson and Hannah Mosher (North Tonawanda), Alyssa Narkiewicz and Krystal Gravelle (Niagara Falls), and Melanie Hannon (Maryvale). Section IV took home the top spot in the girls competition.
