Mark Taylor (L) and Eryn Cully won the overall All-Events Competition in Buffalo's edition of the ESG
Taylor posted a near-perfect 7-1 record in the 8 game round-robin competition, outdistancing his Adirondack teammate William Pulver, Albany, by 68 pins for the victory.
Cully earned her victory in a much tighter race in the Women's Division, just 17 pins over Silver Medalist Taylor Swartz, Windson, of the Central Region. New York City's Melissa Kammerer, Staten Island, was just 5 pins behind Swartz to earn the Bronze.
Earning Gold in 3 events, the Western Region topped the overall Medal Race for the bowling event, their 6 medals tied for best with the Adirondack Region, who earned earning Gold in 1 event.
D'Errico earned the Gold in the Singles event for the women with an 836 4-game total, in addition to leading her women's team to Gold in the Trios Event. Stoddard and the Western trio took the Men's Gold in the same event.
The Western Region earned far and away the most medals in the Masters Division, taking 12 total, and 4 Gold. Sue Schottke, Tonawanda, led the way, earning Gold in the All-Events, Singles, and Women's Trios with her Western teammates Jody Koester, Rochetser, and Alberta Wambold, Rochester.
The 2010 Empire Games marked the 4th time Buffalo has hosted the event, which brought competitors from all over New York State in Scholastic, Open, and Masters events. It was the 32nd edition of the Games, which returned after a one-year hiatus in 2009.
