WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - It was a win at the wire as Liz Johnson and Adam Barta regained the lead they had lost with two games to go
to win the Jack N Jill Mixed Doubles title, Sunday at Transit Lanes in Williamsville, NY.
Johnson, Cheektowaga, NY, and Barta, Girard, OH, defeated Amanda Greene, Romney, WV, and Brett Cunningham, Clay, NY, 237-226 in the final match of the round-robin baker-style
match play finals to take the top spot.
Greene and Cunningham had taken the lead away with 2 games remaining in the tournament, before Johnson and Barta claimed two straight victories over them, 245-232
in the 5th game, and then defeating them again in the position round for the 6th and final game of the match play finals.
Johnson and Barta took the top prize of $3,800, while Greene and Cunningham used their outstanding 240.00 average in the baker games to earn the second place prize of $2,000.
The two-day event drew a field of 36 teams to Transit Lanes.
